October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, a time to recognize those currently battling cancer, celebrate survivors, honor those we’ve lost, and support the ongoing search for better treatments and cures.
At Hawthorne Plumbing, Heating & Cooling, cancer awareness is personal. Like so many families in our community, our team has been affected by cancer in one way or another. As a locally owned and operated HVAC and plumbing company serving Reno and Las Vegas since 2003, we understand the importance of supporting the people and families who have supported us for more than two decades.
How We’re Giving Back This October
This October, we’re proud to show our support in a few visible and meaningful ways:
- Pink on the job: Our team will wear pink shoe covers on job sites this month.
- Pink Fridays: Our team will wear pink shirts every Friday throughout October.
- Donations to breast cancer research: Throughout October, Hawthorne will make a donation for every qualifying service call, with a goal of raising $1,000 for breast cancer research.

Why Breast Cancer Awareness Matters
Breast cancer is one of the most common cancers among women in the United States, and it affects men as well. Nearly everyone knows someone whose life has been touched by it, whether a family member, a friend, a coworker, or a neighbor.
Awareness saves lives. Regular screenings help doctors find breast cancer early, when treatment is often most effective. Breast Cancer Awareness Month is a good reminder to talk with your healthcare provider about the screening options that are right for you.
Research matters too. Much of the progress in cancer treatment over the past few decades has come from research funded by donations. That’s why we chose to direct our support toward breast cancer research this year.
